EPSO tests

multiple choice tests

EPSO competitions and selection procedures consist of a series of tests designed to evaluate several competencies.

The Notice of Competition is the only official document providing detailed information about the exact tests used by EPSO for each competition. All Notices are published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

This page offers examples of tests that may be used to help prospective applicants become familiar with their format and content. However, it is not intended as a training resource to prepare applicants for passing the tests, as this falls outside EPSO’s mandate.

All candidates are invited to take their tests simultaneously at the date and time specified in their invitation.

We also encourage you to consult EPSO’s  general competency framework for more information on the competencies deemed essential for effective performance in the roles offered by the EU institutions and bodies served by EPSO. Some competencies are assessed during the selection phase by EPSO, while others are evaluated by the respective institutions during the recruitment process.

EPSO TESTS – COMPETITIONS FOR PERMANENT EU CIVIL SERVANTS
EPSO TESTS - CONTRACT STAFF/AGENTS

On this page you will find some tests similar to those that you may have to pass when taking part in the Contract Staff/Agent selection procedure.

All tests will be computer-based and you will take them at online in one go.

Logical reasoning tests:

Ready to go one step further? Then try our long version of verbal, numerical and abstract sample tests, also in a quiz format if you apply to become an employee as a contract staff/agent in (salary) function groups I-IV):

You can also consult an accessible version of these sample tests.

Please note that currently, these sample tests are only available in EN, FR and DE. Learn more about EPSO’s current work on this topic.

Competency test for each profile

Currently, EPSO is responsible only for organising the logical reasoning tests, but not for the competency tests. The recruiting services of the EU institutions have adapted the selection procedure of Contract staff/agent accordingly, and keep their relevant services informed of the applicable procedure.
