„Rozpocząłem pracę w Europejskim Trybunale Obrachunkowym w 2006 r. Jako audytor zajmuję się polityką spójności i rocznym sprawozdaniem z realizacji celów, które zawiera ogólną ocenę wartości dodanej programów UE.

Moje obowiązki obejmują m.in. planowanie audytów, ocenę materiałów dowodowych, przegląd różnorodnych dokumentów, sporządzanie sprawozdań, a także odbywanie wizyt na miejscu w organach i u beneficjentów w państwach członkowskich. Naszym głównym językiem roboczym jest angielski, ale posługujemy się również kilkoma innymi językami. W mojej pracy zasadnicze znaczenie mają dobre umiejętności komunikacyjne i organizacyjne.

Mam wykształcenie inżynierskie, odbyłem również studia w dziedzinie administracji publicznej. Uzyskałem także dyplom certyfikowanego audytora wewnętrznego w Instytucie Audytorów Wewnętrznych oraz tytuł magistra w dziedzinie zarządzania audytem i doradztwa. Przed podjęciem pracy w Europejskim Trybunale Obrachunkowym pracowałem jako kierownik projektu i audytor wewnętrzny w organizacjach przemysłowych.”

What does an EU auditor do?

An EU auditor assures that taxpayer money is spent correctly and that it gives real value to EU citizens.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

What I enjoy the most is the different kinds of actions taken by the EU and that I get to audit them. Every day you get to learn something new, and I find that really exciting.

One tip for someone considering applying to the audit competition?

I would suggest getting to know the programs and the actions taken by the EU, getting sense of the overall picture of what’s done and how it’s enacted in the member states and across the world.

What does an EU auditor do?

At the European Court of Auditors, we are the guardians of the EU's finances. We conduct financial and performance audits to check if money is accounted for and if it's delivering true value. My job involves analysing complex programmes and meeting international partners to ensure EU support delivers real results, both inside and outside the Union. 

What do you enjoy most about your job?

What I love the most is the tangible impact and the international scope. Recently, I audited health systems in Burundi and Zimbabwe, focusing on sustainability and coordination. It is incredibly rewarding to issue recommendations that directly improve how funding is allocated, knowing my work leads to better, lasting outcomes for people on the ground.

One tip for someone considering applying to the audit competition?

Jestem audytorem w Komisji Europejskiej. Jest to bardzo ciekawa i satysfakcjonująca praca. Naszym głównym celem jest zagwarantowanie, że pieniądze podatników UE są wykorzystywane prawidłowo i zgodnie z prawem. Zajmujemy się również nadzorem i zapewnieniem, że wszystkie systemy funkcjonują właściwie i że przestrzegane są przepisy.

Jednym z najbardziej interesujących aspektów mojej pracy są kontakty z beneficjentami funduszy UE ze wszystkich krajów UE (a nawet krajów spoza UE) w ramach kontroli, które przeprowadzamy w poszczególnych krajach. Równie ciekawa jest współpraca z kolegami ze wszystkich departamentów Komisji Europejskiej, ponieważ daje nam audytorom ogólny wgląd w działania Komisji Europejskiej.
