„Ühinesin Euroopa Kontrollikojaga 2006. aastal. Audiitorina töötan ühtekuuluvuspoliitika valdkonnas ja tegelen iga-aastase tulemusaruande koostamisega, mis annab üldhinnangu ELi programmide lisaväärtusele.

Minu tööülesanneteks on muu hulgas auditite planeerimine, tõendite hindamine, suure hulga dokumentide läbivaatamine, aruannete koostamine ning kohapealsed kontrollkäigud liikmesriikide ametiasutustesse ja toetusesaajate juurde. Meie peamine töökeel on inglise keel, kuid räägime ka muid keeli. Selle töö puhul on väga oluline hea suhtlemis- ja korraldusoskus.

Õppisin esmalt inseneriks ja seejärel asusin õppima avalikku haldust. Omandasin ka siseaudiitorite instituudi atesteeritud siseaudiitori kvalifikatsiooni ning seejärel auditi juhtimise ja nõustamise magistrikraadi. Enne Euroopa Kontrollikotta tööleasumist töötasin projektijuhi ja siseaudiitorina tööstusorganisatsioonides.“

What does an EU auditor do?

An EU auditor assures that taxpayer money is spent correctly and that it gives real value to EU citizens.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

What I enjoy the most is the different kinds of actions taken by the EU and that I get to audit them. Every day you get to learn something new, and I find that really exciting.

One tip for someone considering applying to the audit competition?

I would suggest getting to know the programs and the actions taken by the EU, getting sense of the overall picture of what’s done and how it’s enacted in the member states and across the world.

What does an EU auditor do?

At the European Court of Auditors, we are the guardians of the EU's finances. We conduct financial and performance audits to check if money is accounted for and if it's delivering true value. My job involves analysing complex programmes and meeting international partners to ensure EU support delivers real results, both inside and outside the Union. 

What do you enjoy most about your job?

What I love the most is the tangible impact and the international scope. Recently, I audited health systems in Burundi and Zimbabwe, focusing on sustainability and coordination. It is incredibly rewarding to issue recommendations that directly improve how funding is allocated, knowing my work leads to better, lasting outcomes for people on the ground.

One tip for someone considering applying to the audit competition?

For this level, we need professionals who can think strategically about performance and risk. My tip is to study the EU financial regulation and read a few of our recent audit reports to understand our methodology and tone. If you want a career where your expertise drives real change, apply today.

Töötan Euroopa Komisjonis audiitorina ning minu töö on põnev ja rahuldust pakkuv. Töö eesmärk on tagada, et ELi maksumaksja raha kasutatakse õigesti ja seaduslikult. Tegelen ka järelevalvega, hoolitsedes selle eest, et süsteemid töötavad nõuetekohaselt ja et eeskirjadest peetakse kinni.

Minu töö üks huvitavamaid aspekte on kohapealsete kontrollide käigus suhtlemine ELi rahaliste vahendite saajatega kõigis ELi riikides (ja ka väljaspool). Samuti on põnev teha koostööd Euroopa Komisjoni eri talitustega ja saada seeläbi aimu kogu komisjoni tööst.
