„Am început să lucrez la Curtea de Conturi Europeană în 2006. Munca mea de auditor vizează politica de coeziune. De asemenea, particip la redactarea raportului anual privind performanța, care oferă o evaluare globală a valorii adăugate a programelor UE.

Printre sarcinile mele se numără planificarea auditurilor, evaluarea dovezilor, examinarea a numeroase tipuri de documente, elaborarea de rapoarte, precum și efectuarea de vizite pe teren, la autorități și la beneficiari din statele membre. Principala noastră limbă de lucru este engleza, dar vorbim și alte câteva limbi. În activitatea mea este esențial să comunici bine și să ai aptitudini de organizare.

Am studiat ingineria și apoi administrația publică. De asemenea, am obținut calificarea de auditor intern certificat în cadrul Institutului Auditorilor Interni. Apoi am absolvit un master în managementul auditului și consultanță. Înainte de a mă angaja la Curtea de Conturi Europeană, am lucrat ca manager de proiect și ca auditor intern în cadrul unor organizații industriale.”

What does an EU auditor do?

An EU auditor assures that taxpayer money is spent correctly and that it gives real value to EU citizens.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

What I enjoy the most is the different kinds of actions taken by the EU and that I get to audit them. Every day you get to learn something new, and I find that really exciting.

One tip for someone considering applying to the audit competition?

I would suggest getting to know the programs and the actions taken by the EU, getting sense of the overall picture of what’s done and how it’s enacted in the member states and across the world.

What does an EU auditor do?

At the European Court of Auditors, we are the guardians of the EU's finances. We conduct financial and performance audits to check if money is accounted for and if it's delivering true value. My job involves analysing complex programmes and meeting international partners to ensure EU support delivers real results, both inside and outside the Union. 

What do you enjoy most about your job?

What I love the most is the tangible impact and the international scope. Recently, I audited health systems in Burundi and Zimbabwe, focusing on sustainability and coordination. It is incredibly rewarding to issue recommendations that directly improve how funding is allocated, knowing my work leads to better, lasting outcomes for people on the ground.

One tip for someone considering applying to the audit competition?

Lucrez ca auditor în cadrul Comisiei Europene – un rol interesant, care îmi aduce satisfacții profesionale. Obiectivul nostru principal este de a garanta că banii contribuabililor din UE sunt utilizați corect și legal. De asemenea, mă asigur că sistemele funcționează în mod corespunzător și că normele sunt respectate.

Una dintre cele mai interesante părți ale activității mele este interacțiunea cu beneficiarii fondurilor UE din toate țările UE (și chiar din afara acesteia), prin controale la fața locului, la sediile lor. Colaborarea cu colegi din toate departamentele Comisiei Europene este la fel de fascinantă, deoarece ne oferă nouă, auditorilor, o imagine de ansamblu asupra operațiunilor Comisiei Europene.
