Inclusive selection

EPSO is committed to providing equal opportunities and equal access to all candidates, regardless of race, colour, ethnic or social origin, language, religion or belief, political opinion, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other personal characteristic. All our selection procedures are designed to be fair, transparent, accessible, and inclusive. They consistently apply the principle of equal opportunities and comply with EU anti-discrimination legislation, including the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).

Fairness and impartiality

Impartiality is a guiding principle throughout every selection procedure. To support fair and objective assessments, Selection Board members bring together a balanced mix of backgrounds, including gender, age, nationality, language, and experience. They receive specialised training on objective, evidence-based and bias-aware testing methods, helping to ensure that candidates are evaluated fairly and consistently.

EPSO strives to strengthen the fairness and improve the quality of its selection procedures by:

  • carrying out statistical analysis and continuous monitoring of test items to support objective, competency-based assessments.
  • collecting candidate feedback through satisfaction surveys to continuously improve its services and selection procedures.
  • regularly reviewing the accessibility of its communication, selection procedures, and tests.

Accessibility and reasonable accommodations

Accessibility is an integral part of an inclusive selection process. We work to make our information, communication, and selection procedures accessible to everyone and regularly review them to identify and address potential barriers. Where needed, documents and information can be provided in adapted formats compatible with assistive technologies.
Candidates who require specific adjustments for selection tests because of a disability or medical condition can request reasonable accommodations. These measures are designed to ensure that candidates can participate in selection procedures under fair conditions and have an equal opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.
