Equal opportunities, Diversity and Inclusion
Diversity is essential to building a European civil service that reflects and serves all citizens of the European Union. We are committed to ensuring equal opportunities and equal access for every candidate, regardless of race, colour, ethnic or social origin, language, religion or belief, political opinion, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other personal characteristic.
All our selection procedures are designed to be fair, transparent and inclusive. They consistently apply the principle of equal opportunities and comply with EU anti-discrimination legislation, including the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). Selection is based solely on merit, ensuring that every candidate has an equal opportunity to demonstrate their competencies, skills and potential.
EPSO promotes equal opportunities and diversity in its outreach activities to attract diverse talent from all EU member states.
By bringing together people from diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives, we contribute to building a stronger European civil service that is better equipped to serve Europe's diverse communities.
To support these principles, we also take a number of practical measures to promote fairness, accessibility and continuous improvement across our selection procedures:
- Carry out statistical analysis and continuous monitoring of test items to ensure objective, competency-based assessments.
- Collect candidate feedback through satisfaction surveys to continuously improve our services and selection procedures.
- Regularly review the accessibility of our communication, selection procedures and tests, and provide adapted formats compatible with assistive technologies where needed.
Impartiality
Impartiality is the guiding principle of every selection procedure. To ensure fair and objective assessments, Selection Board members are appointed from diverse backgrounds, providing a balanced mix of gender, age, nationality, language and experience. They receive specialised training on objective, evidence-based and bias-aware assessment methods, helping to ensure that all candidates are evaluated fairly and consistently.
Accessibility
If you experience accessibility difficulties when using this website or related documents, please contact us. Your feedback helps us improve accessibility and ensure that information remains available to everyone.
Where needed, documents and information can be provided in adapted formats compatible with assistive technologies.
Reasonable Accommodations
Candidates who require specific adjustments for selection tests because of a disability or medical condition may request reasonable accommodations. These measures help ensure that all candidates can participate in selection procedures under fair conditions and demonstrate their abilities fully.
