Lawyer-linguists for CS, DA, ET, FI, FR, IT, LV and SV

Are you a multilingual lawyer, interested in pursuing an international career?

The Court of Justice of the European Union, based in Luxembourg, is seeking lawyer-linguists for the following languages: Czech (CS), Danish (DA), Estonian (ET), Finnish (FI), French (FR), Italian (IT), Latvian (LV) and Swedish (SV). Successful candidates will be recruited as administrators at grade AD 7. This notice covers eight languages, each one corresponding to a separate competition. A candidate may only apply for one of them.

As a lawyer-linguist at the Court of Justice of the European Unionyou must be able to translate often complex legal texts (judgments of the Court of Justice and the General Court, Opinions of the Advocates General, written pleadings of the parties, etc.) into the language of the competition from at least two other official EU languages, reviewing such translations, and providing legal analysis in cooperation with the Registries and the other departments of the Court of Justice of the EU. The work of a lawyer-linguist involves the use of standard IT and other office-technology tools.
