How to set-up your profile
Your personal data and contact information are already included in your profile.
IMPORTANT: The personal data in your profile (your last name, your first name and your date of birth) must be the identical to the personal data in your identity document bearing your photo (ID card or passport). If you have more than one family name or first name on your identity document, you must list them all.
You need to change personal data in your profile?
You can change yourself most personal data in your profile. However, if you want to change your family name (surname), your family name (surname) at birth, your first name, your e-mail address, your nationality/ies, or your date of birth, you must submit a request via the link “Request to update our personal data”.

In addition to your personal data, you will find in your profile some settings related to your candidate account such as the language and the date and time format of your account. Note that changing the language of your account does not change the languages that you chose in your application(s).
You are not obliged to upload your picture.
The following information is mandatory before you can apply for a competition: Your highest level of education, the location(s) you are willing to work in, information on your current employment. Please fill them and save the data to finalise your profile.

How to create your CV
From the Portal’s homepage, at the top of the banner on "My account", you can click on "My CV”, where you can add/edit/delete your:
- work experience.
- education and training.
- language skills.
Read the following important information before you start creating your CV.
- The CV can be filled out in any of the 24 official EU languages.
- Click on the save button at the end of the form each time you add a record in your CV. You can update your CV at any time.
- Make sure that your online CV is up to date when you apply. In case you update your CV after you have submitted your application and prefer to have those changes visible in your application, you must submit your application again. This is however only possible before the deadline for applications is over.
- Mandatory information is marked by an asterisk (*). You cannot leave these fields empty. If fields in your CV and/or your application are empty, you will not be able to submit your application. A list of the fields that must be filled can be found at the bottom of your CV/application pages (“Required information”).
- In different places of your CV, you can add links to webpages. Click on the ‘lock symbol’ to open it, insert the link and close the lock again.
Only for candidates already working for the EU institutions or bodies with access to SYSPER : You can copy and paste your experiences from SYSPER to your new My CV. Note that all experiences, including those in SYSPER must be supported by a document.

How do add work experience
Clicking on "Add Work Experience" opens a new entry that will allow you to insert details of your professional experience, such as the start and end date of employment, your employer’s data, the location, the description of your tasks, etc.
Note that you should always attach at least one supporting document by clicking on the paper clip symbol in the top right corner of each work experience entry (see our FAQ). Work experiences that are not supported by documents are not considered.

How do add work experience

How to add language skills
Click on "Add Language Skills" to add your language skills and the level at which you speak, write and read. You can add all the languages you have some knowledge of. Do not forget to insert your main language / your mother tongue.
In general, no supporting documents are required to prove your language skills. Please check the notice of competition for possible exceptions (e.g., competitions for linguistic profiles).
