Administrators in the field of statistics

Do you have experience in the field of statistics? Would you like to start an international career within a multicultural and diverse team? If yes, then read on.

The EU is seeking highly qualified professionals in the field of data and statistics, as well as macroeconomic statistics. Successful candidates will be recruited at the administrator grades AD 6 and AD 7, respectively.

Your main tasks will vary depending on the chosen field. Please note that you may only apply for one of the following fields:

Field 1 – Data and statistics: Your typical duties fall within one of the two main areas:

 

  • Methodology and production of official statistics

or

  • Data science for official statistics.

 

Field 2 - Macroeconomic statistics: Your typical duties fall within one of the two main areas:

 

  • National accounts, price statistics and balance of payments

or

  • Government finance statistics and excessive deficit procedure statistics.

  • You must have a thorough knowledge of one official EU language and a satisfactory knowledge of a different official EU language.

For field 1 – Data and statistics (AD 6):

  • a university degree of at least 3 years in statistics, finance, mathematics, metrology, demography, informatics, computer science, physics, operational research, engineering, social science, sociology, business administration, economics, followed by at least 4 years of relevant professional experience.
     
    *The education requirement is considered fulfilled if the candidate has a university degree in a different area, but has completed a one-year academic course and obtained a diploma in one of the areas specified above, provided that the studies in question are considered equivalent to university studies of at least three years (e.g. conversion studies).

or

  • a university degree of at least 4 years in one of the areas listed above, followed by at least 3 years of relevant professional experience.

    *The education requirement is considered fulfilled if the candidate has an advanced degree (master’s, PhD, or equivalent) in one of the areas specified above, irrespective   of the area of preceding studies completed by the candidate.

or

  • a university degree of at least 3 years in a field other than those listed above, followed by at least 6 years of relevant professional experience.

     

For field 2 – Macroeconomic statistics (AD 7):

  • a university degree of at least 3 years in statistics, mathematics, economics or business administration, followed by at least 7 years of relevant professional experience.

    *The education requirement is considered fulfilled if the candidate has a university degree in a different area but has completed a one-year academic course and obtained a diploma in one of the following areas: general statistical methodology, including mathematical methods for official statistics; macroeconomic statistics; fiscal statistics, provided that the studies in question are considered equivalent to university studies of at least three years (e.g. conversion studies)

or

  • a university degree of at least 4 years in one of the areas listed above, followed by at least 6 years of relevant professional experience.

    *The education requirement is considered fulfilled if the candidate has an advanced degree (master’s, PhD, or equivalent) in one of the areas specified above, irrespective of the area of preceding studies completed by the candidate.

or

  • a university degree of at least 3 years in a field other than those listed above, followed by at least 8 years of relevant professional experience.
     

Candidates can freely select any two of the 24 official EU languages for testing. Once on a reserve list, successful candidates may be contacted by the recruiting services of the EU institutions and bodies interested in their profile, for targeted recruitment interviews. Such interviews, and any other related procedures, are outside the selection process conducted by EPSO. Recruitment interviews are conducted by the relevant recruiting services usually in English and/or French. Other languages may also be used during the interviews, based on the needs of the recruiting services and the knowledge expressed by candidates in their applications.
