Translators’ competitions - EPSO/AD/414-421/24 (clarification)

Data del post:

Further to the communiqué published by EPSO on 10 April 2025, and in response to questions being asked to EPSO since then, we would like to provide further clarification about the current situation.

What happened?

On 6 March 2025, an unfortunate test set-up error occurred, allowing multiple answers in tests where only one answer was correct. Our investigation revealed that over 3,000 candidates were affected. Although candidate instructions stated that only one answer was correct, it was unclear whether candidates had assumed that a second answer would cancel out the first. This is a plausible scenario in a time-pressured...

Set-up defect requires retesting of the multiple-choice questionnaire (MCQ) tests

Data del post:

It has come to EPSO’s attention that during the testing session of 6 March 2025, for the ongoing Translator competitions (EPSO/AD/414-421/24 – 8 languages), EPSO’s external contractor allowed a set-up defect in some of the multiple-choice questionnaire (MCQ) tests*. This led to a high number of candidates submitting more than one answer, despite the explicit mention in the instructions that there was only one correct answer.

EPSO analysed the situation thoroughly and with the unanimous agreement of the Selection Boards concerned, concluded that to ensure equal treatment among all candidates, it will have to retest all candidates who were...

Behaviour leading to possible disqualification

Data del post:

EPSO, and the competitions’ Selection Boards, would like to take this opportunity to remind candidates that cheating during the tests, recording online tests or attempting to manipulate the fair conduct of tests, or compromising the integrity of the competition process in any other way, may lead to their disqualification from the competition.
Such behaviour also covers the sharing of test content, online or in any other way.

How to upload an ID document in the Single Candidate Portal

Data del post:

A specific field to upload a copy of your ID card/passport is currently being developed by IT services in the Single Candidate Portal
In the meantime, candidates should upload a copy of their ID card/passport to another section of their CV, such as the education/diploma part. EPSO hopes to see this matter solved as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding.

How to file a complaint effectively

Data del post:

Candidates of the Taxation competition (2 fields) must file one complaint per topic and per test. For instance: if you wish to file a technical complaint and an item-specific complaint about the reasoning tests, you must submit two separate complaints. If you wish to file a complaint about a technical issue, an item-specific complaint about the reasoning tests and an item-specific complaint about the FRMCQ, you must submit three separate complaints.
Please also note that all complaints must be filed via the Contact form in the Single Candidate Portal. This will allow EPSO to handle your complaints more quickly and efficiently.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Indicative timeline for the reserve list of the scientific researchers competition

Data del post:

EPSO received a total of 7496 applications for the scientific researchers competitions (EPSO/AD/413-24: 10 fields), around 50% more than estimated. EPSO and the EU institutions welcome this positive result. However, this brings with it an additional challenge for EPSO’s services and the competition’s Selection Board. We have recently taken stock of the situation, and it has become apparent that in order to ensure fair and equal treatment to all candidates, a core principle of all our selection procedures, we will only be able to deliver a reserve list by October or November 2025, and not in September 2025, as...

For that reason, any queries received by EPSO regarding this matter will no longer be handled by our services.
Thank you for your understanding.
