Job description

EU statisticians make a vital contribution to EU decision-making and future policies. Their work focuses on gathering, evaluating and interpreting data that will help shape EU decisions about the economy, finance, society, agriculture, the environment and many other areas. 

Their duties include designing and implementing statistical programmes; defining methodologies; applying mathematical models; undertaking quantitative and qualitative analysis; regulating and coordinating statistical activities; interpreting and disseminating data; executing project plans, among other tasks. 

As a statistician, you can join the EU either as an administrator or as an assistant.

Key qualifications

You must have a good command of at least two EU languages.

To join as an administrator, you must have a degree in a related discipline for entry at grade AD 5 (entry-level for officials at administrator level); to join at a more senior level (grade AD 7) you must also have several years’ relevant experience.

To join as an assistant, you must have either a post-secondary education in an appropriate subject and a few years' relevant professional experience, or a secondary education and at least several years' relevant professional experience.

Job description

Financial managers advise senior officials in planning strategies to meet the EU’s economic and financial requirements; financial assistants help and support them in the implementation of these tasks. 

In their role, financial managers define the EU’s financial and budgetary needs; conduct surveillance and analysis of financial markets, banking systems and market segments across the EU; draft and assess financial policies; prepare financial reports and forecasts; define financial and budget procedures; assist with audits and inspections; plan and manage public procurement procedures, among other tasks.

In order to apply for a Financial manager position you must have a good command of at least two EU languages, an appropriate degree for entry at grade AD 5 (entry level for officials and administrator-level) and several years’ relevant experience to join at a more senior level (grade AD 7).

To apply for a Financial assistant position you must have a good command of at least two EU languages and either a post-secondary education in a relevant discipline and at least a few years' professional experience, or a secondary education and several years' professional experience.
