Looking back on more than eleven years at CEPOL, what stands out most is the people. I have been fortunate to work with supportive colleagues in a collaborative environment where knowledge is shared, different perspectives are valued, and people genuinely enjoy helping one another.
What motivated you to join an EU agency such as the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL), and how did it compare to your previous roles?
When I joined CEPOL in July 2015, I was looking for a new professional challenge after working for the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Hungary in Ireland. Joining an EU Agency was a refreshing change. It allowed me to continue working in an international environment, use English every day and collaborate with colleagues from across Europe, each bringing their own perspectives and cultural backgrounds.
How has working at CEPOL contributed to your professional and personal growth?
Having an accountancy qualification, CEPOL provided an excellent opportunity to further develop my career in finance while also gaining experience in areas beyond my core responsibilities. Over the years, I have had the chance to learn about different aspects of the Agency's work, including course organisation and EMPACT (European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats) activities, which has given me a broader understanding of European law enforcement cooperation.
Although I am Hungarian, working at CEPOL has allowed me to experience a truly international environment every day. Collaborating with colleagues from across Europe has broadened my perspective, introduced me to different cultures and ways of working, and made every day a learning experience.
What unique experiences have you had at CEPOL beyond your work responsibilities?
As a musician, I also enjoyed the opportunity to join the CEPOL band. It was a great way to get to know colleagues outside the office and showed me that CEPOL encourages people to connect not only professionally but also through shared interests. Experiences like these contribute to the friendly and welcoming atmosphere that makes CEPOL an enjoyable place to work.
What would you say to someone considering a career at CEPOL, and what makes it a special place to work?

Throughout my time here, I have also appreciated the trust and flexibility that have allowed me to grow professionally while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
