Continuous learning is an important part of working for the EU. You’ll have access to a wide range of training opportunities to support your professional and personal development. The EU institutions offer training programmes tailored to your specific needs. There are courses available in various subjects, such as
- language courses – learn any EU language
- internal training – policy fields and other technical skills
- certification – learn key skills and methods used by the EU institutions and beyond
- IT training – data analysis and cybersecurity
The European School of Administration is the ‘central hub’ for learning across all the EU institutions. Its learning offer includes:
- newcomer’s training
- development of key skills (including resilience courses and workshops)
- management and leadership development programmes
- training for certification (a procedure where you can move from the assistant function group to the administrator function group)
- job shadowing in another institution (a short-term job exchange where you are paired with another staff member in another institution of your choice for 6 months)
EISMEA supports career development at both team and agency level through targeted initiatives and programmes which help staff grow professionally and build new skills in different settings.
In each role, I have also followed specific training on internal corporate applications and business processes, which helped me adapt quickly from the start.
