What does your role at CINEA involve?
As a Project Officer working on energy efficiency in buildings, the New European Bauhaus and smart cities, I contribute to research and innovation in one of Europe’s most fragmented yet critical sectors: the built environment. What I enjoy most is the opportunity to help drive research and innovation towards our shared climate goals and turn knowledge into solutions that can make a tangible difference.
What brought you to CINEA?
Joining CINEA felt like a full-circle moment in my career, as it allows me to combine my deep sectoral experience with my passion for turning research into impactful, actionable knowledge.
I have more than 20 years of experience across the built environment, from construction sites and architecture to consulting, supply chains and EU advocacy. Along the way, I have worked in SMEs, global companies and research institutions across Germany, Spain, the UK, Belgium and New York.
How has your professional experience shaped the work you do today?
Having seen first-hand how fragmentation in the built environment can hinder progress, I became a knowledge management specialist 17 years ago to help connect stakeholders and unlock shared insights. Today, I particularly enjoy transforming research into actionable knowledge for the EU and bringing together different perspectives to help address common challenges.

I am thrilled to support project consortia developing cutting-edge innovations that can directly improve citizens’ lives. My goal is to ensure that research does not stay on the shelf but instead empowers stakeholders—from construction workers and architects to local policymakers and EU decision-makers—to make evidence-based choices that benefit us all.
What is one thing you do to help protect the environment in your everyday life?
I am passionate about sustainability in all aspects of life. As a devoted cyclist, I have never owned a car—you will find me pedalling around Brussels, rain or shine. Only when the streets turn icy do I swap my bike for the metro. At home, I have turned our small garden into a thriving mini jungle, buzzing with bees, butterflies and all kinds of wildlife. It is my little contribution to biodiversity and a perfect way to unwind after work.
