What inspired you to join Frontex?
I wanted to work in an international environment where my experience could contribute to something bigger than a single organisation. Frontex gave me the opportunity to support European security while working with colleagues from across the EU who bring different perspectives and expertise.
What is your education?
I have a PhD, which strengthened my analytical, research and evidence-based decision-making skills, as well as an MBA in Leadership and Management, which enhanced my strategic thinking and leadership capabilities. I also hold a master’s degree in Sports Sciences and Physical Education, which gave me a strong foundation in learning methodologies, coaching and adult education.
Throughout my career, I have continued to invest in my professional development through specialised training in both the maritime sector and Frontex. I believe continuous learning is essential for personal growth and organisational excellence, and it is a principle I apply every day.
What does your role involve?
I lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for managing operational information and intelligence processes. Together, we collect, validate, analyse and share information that helps commanders and decision-makers understand the operational picture and make informed decisions during deployments.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
Every day is different. I enjoy working with people from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds and finding solutions to complex operational challenges. Knowing that my team’s work directly supports colleagues deployed in the field makes the role especially rewarding.
How has your career developed at Frontex?
Frontex encourages continuous learning and professional development. I’ve had opportunities to take on greater responsibilities, improve operational processes and mentor colleagues. The organisation values initiative and gives you space to grow both as a specialist and as a leader.

How do you manage career development and work-life balance?
Frontex has given me many opportunities to grow professionally, but one of the most challenging periods of my career was becoming a mother for the second time while serving as a Standing Corps Officer and continuing to take on leadership responsibilities. Balancing operational demands with raising two young children taught me the importance of resilience, prioritisation and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. It also reinforced my belief that organisations should continue strengthening the support they provide to working parents and families.
Outside work, I recharge by practising Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, going for walks with my sons, playing with them and reading. These moments help me disconnect, maintain perspective and return to work with renewed energy. I firmly believe that taking care of our wellbeing makes us more effective professionals and better leaders.
