What inspired you to pursue a career with the European Union?
Ever since I was a teenager, I dreamed of working for the European Union. I was inspired by the idea of being part of a unique project that brings together people from different cultures and backgrounds to tackle common challenges and create positive change. Knowing that my work could contribute, even indirectly, to improving the lives of millions of Europeans is what first attracted me to an EU career—and it continues to inspire me today.
How did your EU career begin?
I have been working for the European Union since 2011. That year, my ambition to pursue an EU career became a reality when I joined the European Commission. Three years later, I moved to the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA), where I continue to work today.
What does your job involve?
I specialise in Internal Control, a field that often works behind the scenes but plays an important role in good public administration. My job is to help the organisation achieve its objectives effectively, manage risks, strengthen governance and ensure that public resources are used responsibly. I particularly enjoy finding practical solutions, improving the way we work and supporting colleagues so that, together, we can deliver better results for the people we serve.
What do you value most about working in an EU environment?
One of the things I value most is the opportunity to collaborate with talented colleagues from all over Europe. Working in such an international environment reminds me every day that our diversity is one of our greatest strengths. Different cultures, experiences and perspectives help us find better solutions and make a greater impact.
What does working for the EU mean to you today?
Looking back, I still feel the same excitement I felt as a student dreaming about an EU career. I am proud and grateful to contribute, in my own way, to a project that promotes peace, cooperation and shared prosperity across Europe.
