Working in an international environment also brings its own set of challenges, such as the need to navigate consensus among perspectives shaped by diverse national backgrounds. Yet this experience teaches us to listen attentively, practice patience, and remain open to different viewpoints.
What’s the most rewarding part of your work at the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL), and how has it helped you grow?
There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing and hearing participants say that our training has enriched their skills, helping them in their daily work and responsibilities—and knowing that I’ve played a part in their professional growth. Contributing to the Agency’s development, pioneering new approaches to training design, and adapting to modern trends in professional education is both a challenge and an invaluable investment in my own development.
How has collaborating with colleagues from diverse national backgrounds shaped your approach to teamwork and problem-solving?
Working in an international environment also brings its own set of challenges, such as the need to navigate consensus among perspectives shaped by diverse national backgrounds. Yet this experience teaches us to listen attentively, practice patience, and remain open to different viewpoints. At the same time, it often reveals just how much we have in common despite our differences—and this shared understanding fosters a close-knit team that transcends borders.
How does your work on European-level training at CEPOL bridge your national policing experience with the broader needs of law enforcement across the EU?
Working on European-level training is a truly unique experience. On the one hand, it allows me to build on the expertise I gained in the Polish police force and design training courses that meet the needs of officers working in the field. On the other hand, it enables me to complement and expand this perspective with a broader, European outlook, ensuring that the training we develop addresses the needs of colleagues across different countries and strengthens a shared European foundation for effective policing.
Is it worth joining CEPOL or other EU agencies?
Absolutely, and without a doubt!
