What do you appreciate most about working in the EU institutions?
I most appreciate the international environment, where I work with colleagues from many different backgrounds in an organisation whose values matter to me.
How has the Commission contributed to your learning and development throughout your career?
The Commission has given me many opportunities to take on new projects and develop both professionally and personally. I have gained a better understanding of how the EU institutions work and strengthened skills such as my French language skills and public speaking.
How would you describe the working culture?
I find the working culture modern and flexible. We use hot-desking in an open-plan office, and colleagues have significant flexibility in balancing office presence and teleworking. This helps many colleagues in having a good work–life balance.
What is your experience of living in Brussels?
Brussels is an exciting city to live in. It is diverse, open and constantly evolving. Its food, arts and culture scene is fantastic, which makes life here both interesting and enriching.
What do you think is important for the outside world to know about working in the EU institutions?
It is important to know that the European Commission is a modern, welcoming and exciting place to work. People here are passionate about the values of the EU and the work we do, which makes it a very rewarding environment.
