Working across local, national, and European contexts has shown me the value of connecting different perspectives to understand complex challenges and to better support and inform public health decisions.
What has been the most rewarding project or initiative you have worked on at the European Union Drugs Agency (EUDA) and why?
The European Web Survey on Drugs, a large-scale online survey that collects information on patterns of drug use from people who use drugs across Europe. The project combines epidemiological research and international collaboration to generate evidence and inform public health. We are currently planning the next campaign, which we are planning to engage thousands of participants, and it is an exciting challenge.
How has working in a European and multicultural environment influenced the way you approach your work?
Working in a European and multicultural environment has shown me the value of openness, and it has strengthened my ability to actively listen, understand diverse perspectives to work effectively with colleagues and partners from diverse backgrounds and contexts.
What piece of advice would you give to someone interested in working in a European agency?
I would definitely encourage it. Having worked at the local or national level gives you a deeper understanding of the realities behind the data and policies, helping you connect different perspectives to better understand the bigger picture at European or international level.
