We are a friendly and dynamic team of around 30 people with a good and open team spirit. The CET provides guidance on economic matters to DG Competition and assists case teams in carrying out the Commission's assessment of competition issues in individual cases and of policy issues. The CET deals with the implementation and supervision of economic and financial analysis undertaken as part of antitrust, merger and state aid cases or of horizontal tasks. We work on some of the most complex and high-profile cases handled by DG Competition. The CET also provides support to the Chief Economist in the provision of independent economic advice to DG Competition and to the Commissioner for Competition. Furthermore, the CET contributes from an economic point of view to the defense of Commission decisions on competition cases before the EU courts.
